Every icon sorted into its own panel
DeskTidy turns the desktop icons off and opens a translucent panel for each kind of thing it finds: Folders, Apps & Shortcuts, Documents, Images, Archives, Code and more. Panels are created automatically from whatever your desktop holds, and new files land in the right one.

Find anything by typing
Click any panel and start typing to search every desktop icon at once. Exact names and the start of names come first, each result shows its category, and Enter opens the one you picked.

A to-do list right on your desktop
Keep a short task list beside your panels. Type a task and press Enter, tick it off when it is done, and clear the finished ones together. Tasks are saved as soon as they change.

Convert currencies in a glance
The Currency panel converts both ways as you type, and even works out sums like 120 * 3 for you. Copy either amount with one click, and see when the exchange rate was last updated.

Drag icons to reorder them, pull a favourite out onto the desktop on its own, and resize panels from any edge. Lock layout stops accidental moves, and Tidy panels puts everything back in order.

Is DeskTidy free?
Yes. DeskTidy is free to download and use.
Does DeskTidy move or delete my files?
No. DeskTidy never moves, renames or deletes a file, and your desktop icon positions are left exactly as they are. It only shows your icons in panels.
How do I get my normal desktop icons back?
Quit DeskTidy from its tray icon and the icons come back. DeskTidy hides them with the same switch as the desktop’s own right-click menu, so you can also right-click the desktop and choose View > Show desktop icons at any time.
Does DeskTidy start with Windows?
Yes, so your panels are ready when you sign in. You can turn this off with Start with Windows in the tray menu or any panel’s right-click menu, or in Task Manager’s Startup tab.
Which versions of Windows does it work on?
Windows 11 and Windows 10, 64-bit.
Is DeskTidy available in my language?
DeskTidy speaks 32 languages. It follows your Windows language, or you can choose one in Settings, and the change applies right away.
